January Bead Journal Page

I've been done for a while now but never got to the picture until today. The colors make me think of being cold. While I was working on this, it actually told me to stop. I did get to a place where I didn't know what to do so, I listened and stopped beading. Most of my other months are totally encrusted but this month - oh well. I do like the fabric so maybe that had something to do with it. It was a cold month with lots of ice and snow. It continued this week with another 5 inches of snow paced down with a couple inches of freezing rain, then rain then very cold temps that froze everything over. Everything was just plain icy. I am a lucky person, I got a job this week and will start on Monday. I'll be working with a cute autistic boy 1 on 1 in one of our elementary schools. I'm excited about this new adventure but at the same time wondering - how am I going to find the time to bead and read. I'll miss my free time but I'll enjoy the financial benefits along with the knowledge that I'll be helping a child. My January doll is coming, soon. Happy New year to all!

Love this one... strangely enough my January page is all about cold, imagine that! I just got it photographed last night and hope to get it sometime this weekend.

All your pieces are beautiful.

Congrats on the job too. You'll find time for beading, when you need to, in the meantime enjoy your new adventure!

I like that you listened to your beads and stopped when you did. The piece feels very earthy to me. I really like it a lot.

Beautiful Piece!
I love the fabric showing through, it does feel cold but at the same time the colors remind me of being on the beach with sand, rocks and driftwood.

Heidi thank you for you kind thoughts about my eye. Your January peace is lovely and soothing. I enjoyed seeing your previous work (now that I have found your page)but this last one is just wonderful.
Enjoy your new job and helping this young man, my grandson has been recently diagnosed with a form of autism and people like you are very important in his life.

Very contained for a snapdragon person!

This is lovely. The fabric becomes an important part of the design when you let it show. Good luck with your new job.

Yep, those beads know what they want every time -- and your piece is so very beautiful and elegant!

This is a bit different than your other pieces, Heidi, yet very lovely. It reminds me of frost and a little of the lace-like look of bare tree branches against the sky on a cold winter morning. White beads, especially ones with a luster or other shiny finish, are very difficult to photograph, so I imagine this is even more lovely than the picture reveals.

Congratulations on your new job. I hope it goes well for you and isn't sooooo demanding that you don't have energy for beading. I'm a big fan of your work!

Oh this is very lovely! Yes, does make me think of cold too, but also makes me think of the "world"...

This looks like the world stuck in an icy place. It seems very warm and cold at the same time...like the hearth in a house whilst looking at the outside with all its cold glory

My first thoughts on seeing this page were it looks like both the earth from space and like a bird with it's wings wrapping around it's egg. The snows of winter are cold but they get the world ready for new life in the spring and the bird image is another nurturing one. So your page to me may say "cold" but it says much more than that.

I hope you can help that child. My grandson ended up with a nervous breakdown at age 11 because the school refused to accept he was severe ADHD (the EEOC found the school to be discriminating against him and many others for their disabilities). He really could have used someone like you.
