July Page Done

I finished July, it only took me 1000+ sequins. Glad I bought 2 packages. I like the way the light reflects off the sequins. I'm getting a little purple in the reflection and I like that. I think I like sequins. I used to think they were tacky but now with beads and in the right context I love em. My mind is wandering off to August and what I should do but I'm not going to start yet. Off to other projects. This picture doesn't do it justice but you get the idea. I think this brings peace and simplicity to me. I like looking at it and usually I don't like what I make.

It looks like some kind of marvelous path...not a maze...but a path with shining stones.
Very original. 1,000 sequins, huh?
We aren't exactly speed demons in this trade, are we?
Nice work.

Looks good to me! The best part is that YOU like it. I'm doing sequins on a bigger part of my journal page than ever before too.

What size are your pages?

Really Cool, I've never worked with sequins on a beading project but, you have inspired me to think of ways to incorporate sequins in one of my journal pages.

Hi Heidi,
I like what you have done here.
It is peaceful.
I too have just discovered sequins and I am loving them.

It is beautiful. I love the flowers and the flow of the page. The sequins are beautiful in the way you layered the colors. I now remember using sequins on felt Christmas shapes used to decorate a stocking or tree skirt. I had forgotten about them.

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies. Yeah over 1,000 sequins a pack and a half. The size of my page is 5 inch by 7 inches (ish). I got a wedding invitation and I'm using the envelope as a size marker. Now that I've used these I want to go to Cartwright's and see the difference in their sequins. No, lj I'm not a speed demon but I have learned to bead in the car and since my son is at boy scout camp, it's very quiet and I had most of yesterday to work on it on and off all day and watch something other than Spongebob Squarepants. Thanks again.

This is a lovely, quiet, peaceful, flowing flower garden!!! It looks like a safe place for Little Heidi. Maybe you created it for her??? (I don't want to sound like a "broken record," but you did say the idea of LH struck a cord with you.)

What type of bead did you use to hold on the sequins? Is it a soft yellow matte?

That's a lot of sequins! I like the soft colors. I have sequins that I have been "saving" to do an Art Doll with. Got them from Cartwright's, but I wouldn't know the difference in one company from another. Maybe I should just try them on something and see how it goes. Thanks for sharing, its a beautiful piece.

Oh! So pretty! Love the sequins! It reminds me of a lovely pond at sunset with flowers floating on the water.

Lovely page...I had the same feeling about sequins until a friend gave me some vintage ones from general bead...sometimes they've been just the exact thing needed and it's great to have them available.

I was going to ask how big your page was but you answered that here in the comments area. That was a LOT of work! It looks very nice. I agree, I used to think sequins looked a bit tacky but now I kind of like tacky! But, your picture doesn't come across tacky but peaceful. Guess it depends on the subject, the color choices and so on like any other media. I just can't wait to try them myself.

This reminds me of looking at a shallow pool of mosaic tiles. A very lovely design . . .

Oooo! Love those sequins! I know what you mean about photographs not doing the piece justice. I have had a very difficult time getting sequins to photoghraph well, and finally gave up. Your piece has the most lovely serene colors and feeling. I just love looking at it.

This is truly beautiful. The I love the fact you used a different shade for the attaching bead. It has made the piece sparkle like water in the sun.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the lovely comments. It makes my heart soar! My son (11) has been gone at BS camp since Sunday and is it every quiet. That's why I got all those sequins on. I'd do it all over again. I really like this page.

Robin, yes, I think you might be very right LH was looking for a safe haven and we created one for her without knowing it! Thanks for pointing that out to me. Good catch.

The beads I used are Czech 11s they're BuyLines 880 its a soft powdery butter yellow. Does that make sense. I just love this color. I'm not a big yellow person. My mom once bought this yellow quilted winter coat and I told her it reminded me of a banana! At least I could find her in a crowd. LOL

This is beautiful! I've recently become attracted to sequins. I'm sure some will find their way into one of my pages as well. Just one more way for us to add sparkle!!

This is so appealing to me... I love the way the background is the same color, but yet the way you beaded gave it a lot of demention!

Hi,
Could you share with us all where you got such wonderful sequins? Thanks!

A few of you have asked where I got my sequins. Would you believe I got them at Joann etc. They have a few sequins hidden away. I just happened upon them and didn't know how it would turn out! Lucky for me.
